Since August 2019, we at REKS LLC have been recycling our plastic waste into high-quality raw materials. REKS is a joint venture between KRAS Recycling, KIVO Flexible Plastics and 4 ambitious Kosovo entrepreneurs.

Together with these parties we have established a recycling plant focused on the precise sorting, separation, washing and recycling of plastic waste streams from supermarket chains, retailers and distribution centers, among others.

REKS focuses primarily on the recycling of LDPE and LLDPE films. By manually separating the films, REKS is able to produce the highest possible quality of transparent LDPE and LLDPE recycled raw materials from Post-Consumer Recycled content (PCR).

REKS processes waste streams from Europe and the Balkan region. Previously these waste streams were mostly shipped from Europe to Asia, or processed to lower quality (less homogeneous) regranulate within Europe. With this new capacity, REKS now offers an answer to the increasing need for high-quality plastic packaging with recycled content.

The factory meets all the high European requirements for, for example, water treatment, energy management, working conditions, etc. The current capacity is 10,000 tons per year with the aim of already doubling this by the end of 2020.
