The quality achieved by our sector as a whole is monitored by the government in the form of legislation and regulations and these have become ever more stringent in recent decades. Since 1 January 2005, for example, national regulations have applied for the management of waste products. For example, waste collectors such as KRAS are obliged to register on the VIHB list. A registration number is required for the commercial transport, collection, trading and mediation in, amongst others, industrial waste products, amongst others.
However, sector associations and certification bodies have also contributed to the increase in quality within the waste processing sector, to better working conditions and to improved safety.
